5.08.2008 Two more albums go into the mix. One, the highly anticipated one from the Roots, Rising Down. Love, love, love the Roots, but I've listened to this one a few times, and so far... meh. Of course, their last one, Game Theory, is their best in my book, so maybe disappointment was inevitable.On the other end of the spectrum, I was at the record store looking for the Roots, and on impulse I bought the new one from Tapes 'n Tapes, Walk It Off. I hadn't even heard their first one - I had the same kind of initial uninformed reaction as I did to Times New Viking (see below). But now I'm regretting my knee-jerk reaction, because the album's pretty darn good. So, the moral this week, as every week - the secret to happiness is low expectations. |
